MindSpring

MindSpring is a collaborative online learning environment which allows teachers to create comprehensive content-rich teaching resources, accessible to schools throughout the country. Students can download lessons and assignments, and parents can access their child’s reports and school work.  Administrative tasks such as recording absences or sending newsletters can also be conducted online via MindSpring.

Designed specifically for use in schools, MindSpring has been developed through the integration of Microsoft administrative and learning applications and is hosted by Unisys. MindSpring is a New Zealand Online Learning Community Trust (NZOLC) initiative and is an ongoing Digital Opportunities project.

Using MindSpring as the platform, teachers are able to share expert and innovative ways in which the curriculum can be interpreted and implemented to help students learn.

Students are also encouraged to work collaboratively using MindSpring as the gateway for the sharing of ideas and knowledge. 

MindSpring also facilitates one-on-one learning between the student and teacher. Teachers can advise, provide feedback, and monitor student progress, and students can work at their own pace, downloading class work as required.

By logging on to the system, working, rural or house-bound parents are better able to participate and monitor their child’s education.   Academic and attendance records, assignments and school reports are readily available. Parents can also contact teachers directly via MindSpring.  

Student and staff absences can be registered online, and newsletters and school reports delivered electronically.
