Studyit website visitor numbers grow

Visitor numbers to the Studyit website continue on an upward trajectory with figures almost doubling in the past year.

In May 2006, over 15,700 unique visits were recorded to the NCEA study and revision website, which was an increase of 77 percent on the previous May’s figure of 8866 visits.

Studyit’s project manager, Ashley Blair is delighted by the increase and believes word-of-mouth is the major contributing factor for the site’s continued growth, but also says the excellent free advice given out by the expert teachers is another reason for the site’s popularity.

Started in 2003, the website initially was an NCEA revision resource for Science and Mathematics students only, however, demand was such that in 2005 English was added to the site. The site offers advice and guidance from expert teachers who provide students with ideas, suggestions and strategies to answer a question or solve a problem.  Studyit also provides forum boards for students to discuss exam questions and study tips.

As well as the increased numbers visiting the site, Ashley says Studyit is evolving into becoming a year-round resource rather than just an end-of-year tool, although demand still peaks at exam time.

“Eight o’clock at night is consistently the peak usage time, except during school holidays and the exam season…,” says Ashley.

While Studyit is an invaluable tool for NCEA Science, Mathematics and English students, there is no intention at this stage to extend it to cover other subjects.

Students can hit the books as well as the Studyit website to help them with their revision.
