Community Technicians’ project finalist in the Computerworld Excellence Awards

The Community Technicians’ project was recently announced as a finalist in the Computerworld Excellence Awards 2005.

The project, submitted by the Ministry of Education’s Digital Opportunities Project Leader Garry Falloon, was nominated in the Excellence in the Use of IT in a Community Project category.

Delighted with the acknowledgement, Garry says getting into the finals is a tremendous achievement, and confirms that the work of the Community Technicians is worthwhile and much needed in rural schools and communities.

The other finalists in the category are Ngäi Tahu Development Corporation: Kotahi Mano Käika — Mäori Language Community revival portal and the Ministry of Education’s other entry, the Early Notification System.

The winner will be announced on Friday, July 29 at the Computerworld Awards Dinner in Auckland.
