The innovative use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in schools has created a range of exciting learning opportunities for students.
The Digital Opportunities (DigiOps) projects are joint partnerships between schools, organisations involved in ICT and the Ministry of Education. Garry Falloon from the Ministry of Education is a specialist in ICT in education and is leading the DigiOps project. The aim is to improve learning through the use of leading edge technologies.
However, it is not just technology for technology’s sake. All of the projects profiled on the site have been funded and supported on the basis that they will contribute to a student’s learning in a positive way and be based around core curriculum subjects.
Currently there are 11 projects on the go, all trying to push the edges in terms of how ICT can be used in interesting, innovative and tangible ways. This website aims to share the great work being done in Digital Opportunities and to provide some very practical information for participating schools. On this site you will not only find case studies and updates from the projects, but you can also learn about how some of the logistical and management issues have been resolved.
The site will be updated regularly with news and project updates. Case studies will be posted whenever a project has reached key milestones or come to an end.
We’d encourage you to ask a question at any time, and to provide feedback on how the site is meeting your needs.
